the demise of c.f.

well, it's about time i stop living in denial and face the facts (and the future). we have received several phone calls and emails since the news last week of the bankruptcy of chrysler. travis doesn't work for chrysler, but rather the funding company, chrysler financial.
so, what does the bankruptcy mean for us? will travis still have a job?
well...ummmm...hmmmm...let's see...
yeah, that's the problem, we don't know yet!
here's what we do know at this point. chrysler is filing bankruptcy and "starting over." which is good at this point since they have no where else to go. however, the bad part is that gmac will be the new funding source for dealers and customers (rather than chrysler financial). yikes.
however, chrysler financial still has billions of dollars in loans outstanding that will need to be collected over the next couple of years and the company is looking for other opportunities and business partners.
so, to answer your questions, we don't know the final verdict and at this point, travis could have a job for a week or for a year. so, if we come knocking on your door looking for a place to sleep, just let us in for crying out loud.
on the bright side, let's look at the cuteness of my new two year old (he turned two on april 17th). we went exploring at a barn right by our house and he was happy as could be with his boots, "lamby," and dirt. LOVE this boy...

Aren't two year olds great?! I love the picture of Isaac looking out of the window. Good luck on the job front. It can be a scary situation, but you make it seem like you are ready for what ever happens. You know, Houston is a good place to look for jobs, not that we are hoping you reach that point.
Just drive South, Jean. We will always have a place for you.
Isaac is absolutely edible, Jean. His cuteness is to DIE for!! I want to eat him up. Hmmm that is twice I have mentioned eating your baby, please don't be nervous. ;)
Only 42 days to go????!!!!
Oh I love my little boyfriend! So cute!
I'll cross my fingers for you guys... Everything will work out...it always does...it's just the "waiting for it to work out" part that is hard.
This economy thing really stinks and gives life that not so needed extra stress! Things do work out but man I wish we all didn't have to learn patience the hard way! Your little boy is the cutest ever!
Please come live with us in Japan!! I can't think of anything that sounds more fun!! I love the pictures of Isaac. I love the yellow boots. McCall went through a boot phase last year (hers were red). She wore them everywhere - it must be a 2 year old thing. Anyway, keep us posted. We miss you - like always!
You can come a knockin at our door anytime sista. You know we are praying he keeps he job, but at the same time, maybe it would be fun to see the Smith family again.
So, what's up with that cute little boy? When did he get so big? I still have this picture of him as a baby just like my little Andrew. There is no way he is two! Holy cow.
On another note, (I know, I am typing forever)...I simply MUST see this picture of Travis. Please do post.
Way cute 2 yr old! I am so ready for that cuteness!!
On the job front. I really hope things work out....Maybe Travis could send a resume down to Charlotte at BOA?
We would be close to the Duffys, and then Travis and Danny can both be working for the govt, I mean the bank. ;)
Beautiful pics Jean!!!! And what a cute boy. Sorry about the job stuff. It really is a bit unnerving huh. As long as I have a door it will be open to you. COME HOME!!!!!!!
Oh my GOSH you are amazing. I love love love these pictures. Can we come visit you and get some pictures taken of our baby?!?!
Oh ps, Travis should just work for an airline. It's pretty cool. :) Then again who knows how long we will have jobs too~
Don't worry everything will turn out great. I think money, jobs, home, food, are a little over rated anyways. Who needs it? Isaac is getting, in jean's words, SO BIG. Are you ready for number four? Ready or not, here it comes! Love ya tons
Glad to know that we are not the only ones in that "oh so fun not to know what you are doing tomorrow" boat. It is very unnerving on the one hand, and yet quite adventurous and exciting on the other. Then again, that comes from us who have moved 13 times. So....I think it is just about time the Smiths and the Lees pack up and head back to China together! Watch out Meyers, you said you wouldn't mind visitors! (Does 12 seem too many?)
Been in your shoes....and it works itself out! You can come to South Texas and brush up on your Espanol...lots of opportunities here! You guys will come out on top...your little guy is a DOLL!
Right there with you sister...not so long ago we were in the same situation. Maybe it is time for Trav to start his own business, or better yet you can always support him. LOL!!! Good Luck...we will be thinkin' about you. PS...as always love the pics.
guess you will just have to move to China! You asked about my language. Well after two years of studying I get in trouble more than ever! But need Joab less and less for language issues! So I thankful for that! Love you all! Em
Maybe now that CF is drowning Travis won't have any more reasons to put off doing his own business, getting rich, and hiring me to be his token Asian employee for diversity and affirmative action purposes. . .
I hope that everything works out for you guys, we've been wondering how Travis's job situation was. You are always welcome to come to sunny Florida as well, we'd love to see you guys again. Even if it's just for a Disneyworld trip! I can't believe your baby is two! Good luck with everything.
Getting close to new baby time. Exciting! I feel your aching feet. Not surprised about Chrysler, but am sad that you have to deal with it. Alaska is a bit better but not much, but you're always welcome to come check it out.
